Dentures are prosthetic devices constructed to replace missing teeth. Conventional dentures are removable, however there are many different denture designs, some which rely on bonding or clasping onto teeth or dental implants.

Removable partial dentures are for patients who are missing just some of their teeth. Fixed partial dentures - crowns and bridges - are made from crowns that are fitted on the remaining teeth made from materials to resemble the missing teeth. Fixed bridges are more expensive than removable denture appliances but are more stable.

Denture wearers must remember that the bone underneath their denture will change, changing the shape of the mouth, but not of the denture. Over time this will result in a loose-fitting appliance.

A loose fitting denture cause loss of palate sensitivity making it difficult to enjoy your food properly.
